Resilience for HR Practitioners
Course Introduction
HR practitioners manage some of the most challenging and sensitive issues in the workplace, such as helping staff to navigate periods of distress, change and uncertainty, leading grievance and capability processes, and supporting employees during instances of acute mental ill health. HR practitioners are often the first point of contact for staff experiencing difficulties, uncertainty and distress. Those responsible for leading and supporting employees take on vast additional responsibilities and pressure in an ambiguous and rapidly changing landscape. For many HR practitioners, the pressures and trauma associated with these challenges can take a heavy toll.
It is crucial to prioritise the health and wellbeing of those who spend their working lives putting the needs of others first.

What will participants learn?

The ethos behind this workshop is to provide HR practitioners with the knowledge and techniques that they can apply straight away in order to, metaphorically, put their own oxygen mask on first. Attendees will benefit from theory and practical tips for managing challenging and, at times, deeply sensitive discussions with leaders, managers and staff at all levels. Using relatable case studies, participants will discuss how to put these tips into action, in a safe and supportive environment. The workshop will incorporate a strong focus on resilience and strategies to protect participants in situations where they may feel triggered, or experience Vicarious Trauma.
