Hardwiring DEI into the Employee Lifecycle
Course Introduction
Bias can infiltrate each and every stage of an employee’s journey and, if left unchecked, it can hamper efforts to increase diversity and drive inclusion and belonging. It’s time to review our Employee Lifecycle through a DEI lens and make systemic and structural changes. But where do we start? Careful and considered analysis of people processes and systems can highlight disparities in data, or differences in outcomes, that reveal challenges and barriers which may have become ‘baked in’ to how we do things.
This highly interactive workshop for HR practitioners, DEI practitioners and recruitment specialists will explore a range of important concepts, from equality vs equity to systemic bias. We will focus on five principles to mitigate bias and hardwire diversity in our people processes:
-
Transparency
-
Objectivity
-
Consistency
-
Measurement
-
Accountability
What will participants learn?
Participants will consider how to apply these principles at different stages in the employee journey - from attraction and selection to assessment and promotion. We take a deep dive into some of the challenges and barriers to increasing diversity in hiring - from application to onboarding, with a strong focus on practical steps to de-biasing our processes and understanding how to mitigate the biases that cloud our judgement and impair our decisions.
